Getting Started

Welcome to SyncSentry! This guide will help you get started with backing up your important files using intelligent rules.

Installation

  1. Download SyncSentry from our website
  2. Open the DMG file and drag SyncSentry to your Applications folder
  3. Launch SyncSentry and grant the necessary permissions
  4. Start your 14-day free trial or enter your license key

Creating Your First Rule

Rules tell SyncSentry which files to backup and where. Here's how to create one:

  1. Click "Add Rule" in the sidebar
  2. Give your rule a descriptive name
  3. Select the source folder to monitor
  4. Add patterns to match specific files (e.g., *.pdf for all PDFs)
  5. Choose your cloud storage destination
  6. Save and enable the rule

Pattern Matching

SyncSentry uses glob patterns to match files. Here are some examples:

  • *.pdf - All PDF files
  • *.{jpg,png,gif} - All image files
  • Documents/**/*.doc - All Word documents in Documents folder
  • !*.tmp - Exclude temporary files

Cloud Storage Setup

SyncSentry works with the following cloud storage providers:

  • iCloud Drive - Works automatically if enabled on your Mac
  • Dropbox - Connect your account in Settings
  • Google Drive - Connect your account in Settings
  • OneDrive - Connect your account in Settings
